JavaScript is a high-level, dynamically typed programming language. It has become a standard for web development and is widely used for both client-side and server-side programming.

Differences between JavaScript and Java

Java

  • Statically typed variable and parameter types
  • Compiler can check and report many errors at compile time

JavaScript

  • Types and data within variables and objects are able to change at runtime
  • Interpreted language, meaning that the code is executed line by line at runtime

JavaScript Objects

JavaScript objects are collections of key-value pairs, where the keys are strings and the values can be any data type, including other objects. Objects can be created using object literals or constructor functions.

JavaScript Object Notation (JSON)

JSON is a lightweight data interchange format that is easy for humans to read and write, and easy for machines to parse and generate. It is based on a subset of the JavaScript programming language and is often used for transmitting data between a server and a web application.
